Our high season runs from April to September, and we ask that team members be able to fully commit during this time. As a small, locally owned business, we deeply value our team members, just as we do our guests. SCHEDULING

  • October-March (Findlay Market retail positions only)

    • Must be available at least 12 hours between Saturday and Sunday, morning or afternoon

    • Must work at least 12 hours on weekends from October to March to be a Team Member

  • April-September (Findlay Market, Northside, and Special Event Positions)

    • Must be available at least 10 hours weekly Tuesday-Thursday

    • Must be available at least 12 hours weekly Friday-Sunday

    • Must be available for a Saturday and/or Sunday shift, weekly

    • Must work at least 16 hours per week from April to September to be a Team Member

  • Big Time Dojo Retail Days

    • Must be available on:

      • July 4th or Labor Day weekend

      • day or night shift Mother’s Day, May 14

      • day or night shift National Ice Cream Day, July 18

      • day or night shift Northside’s closing day, September 30th

      • a shift on Sundays

  • We don’t typically schedule around second jobs, which is unfair to fellow team members. Although, adults who need to work other part-time jobs may do so as long as the second job’s scheduling does not interfere with our regular hours of operation.


POSITIONS AVAILABLE

Retail Team Member

5-10 positions available between Northside and Findlay Market locations

Seasonal team members must be able to complete the entire high season, April-September, and work a minimum of 16 hours weekly during these months.

  • Stock and rotate products in retail display freezers.

  • Maintain a clean and organized retail environment at all times.

  • Follow all food safety and health regulations in accordance with governmental guidelines.

  • Adhere to company policies and operational procedures.

  • Sample gelati for guests and offer menu suggestions.

  • Provide an elevated experience by working at a level of distinction above the industry standard.

  • Actively promote and share our handcrafted menu items with guests.

  • Scoop and serve gelati, floats, shakes, and sundaes with care.

  • Prepare and serve espresso beverages to precise specifications.

  • Maintain an energetic, personable demeanor while interacting with guests.

  • Be reliable, punctual, and committed to your role.

12-20+ hours per week, depending on the season

Kitchen Production Assistant

1-2 positions available

At Dojo Gelato, our Kitchen Team is made up of culinary-minded individuals who drive the creation of all our gelati, sorbetti, sauces, and baked goods from scratch. If you're looking to expand your experience in the culinary arts, this position is perfect for you!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create sauces from scratch, such as caramel, chocolate, and butterscotch.

  • Operate batch freezers to fill and extract gelati and sorbetti.

  • Stock and rotate products in walk-in freezers.

  • Bake cookies, cakes, cones, and brittles.

  • Clean, process, and chop fruits and other inclusions.

  • Sanitize all kitchen equipment and tools.

  • Follow company policies and operational procedures.

  • Adhere to all food safety and health guidelines for a food production facility.

  • Purchase and deliver retail supplies to our retail locations weekly.

  • Uphold a standard of excellence that exceeds industry norms.

Schedule:

  • Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday mornings and/or afternoons, depending on the season.

  • 12-20 hours per week, depending on the season.

HOURLY WAGES & TIPS

  • $10.70 starting wage + tips, an average of $18-20+ hour April-September

  • $10.70 + tips, an average of $14-18+ hour October-March

  • After 60 days of employment, team members are reviewed for potential pay raises

  • Starting wage is dependent on a combination of previous work/volunteer/co-op experience, scheduling availability, and feedback from professional references provided in your application


TRAINING

  • Training consists of 25 clocked hours

  • Training hours are compensated at $10.70 per hour

  • The 25 hours typically take 1-2 weeks to complete

  • During training, you will not receive tips

  • Additional hourly earnings depend on scheduling availability, previous work experience, and the positive work ethic, constructive energy, and initiative you bring to the Team

  • After 25 hours of training have been completed, a Team-wide vote is taken to decide whether a trainee becomes a permanent addition to the Team
